EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT

One of the joys of my work is being welcomed into people’s homes for educational consultations. The great insight into a family’s life that comes from being a part of their home environment is vital to knowing how I can help the children I work with.

When asked to do a home consultation I go into a family’s home and observe the home environment, the home relationships and routines. After the initial visit I meet with the parents to suggest changes they can make to their homes to increase their child’s sense of belonging, independence and family connection. I return as requested to visit with the family and see how the changes are working and perhaps to work with the family to make further changes. All of this work is done with full participation of the family.
